SAN CLEMENTE, Calif.--(Business Wire)-- Jeff Katke, the CEO of Metagenics, Inc., a maker of nutraceuticals, medical foods, and the popular ProteinFusion Peanut Butter Crunch Bars said today that "adequate testing for contamination may be more expensive but it`s worth it to protect consumers."Katke said that his company has not been asked by the Food and Drug Administration to consider holding or recalling any of its products as part of the ongoing Salmonella investigation. He also stated that Metagenics does not use any products from Peanut Corporation of America (PCA), the company at the center of the FDA`s investigation. "Even if PCA had been a supplier," Katke said, "tainted products would never have reached the hands of our customers. Every batch of product received from our vendors is tested for a wide range of contaminants. If any impurities are found, that product doesn`t make it into our warehouse." "We want our customers to know they can buy our products with confidence," said Katke. "Cutting corners isn`t worth compromising safety. These extra steps take time, but as the public now realizes, they`re worth taking." About Metagenics, Inc.
